1. Georgia Ranked 38th on Kids’ Healthcare Scorecard
-----------------------------

Georgia ranks 38th overall on a new state scorecard from the Commonwealth Fund that examines variations among states' child healthcare systems. The report focuses on 13 performance indicators of access, quality, costs, equity, and the potential to lead healthy lives.  The report and rankings are available at http://www.commonwealthfund.org.

-----------------------------
2. New Quick Stats Site for Women’s Health
-----------------------------

A new tool from WomensHealth.gov provides up-to-date national, regional, state and county health data. Data are available by gender, race, ethnicity, and age. The system is organized into 11 main categories, including Demographics, Mortality, Access to care, Infections and chronic disease, Reproductive health, Maternal health, Mental health, Violence and abuse, and Prevention. Users can also create custom tables, graphs, and maps. Available at http://www.womenshealth.gov/quickhealthdata.

-----------------------------
3. Emergency Response Guidebook Available Free From DOT
-----------------------------

An updated Emergency Response Guidebook has been developed by the Department of Transportation and other partners for use by firefighters, police, and other emergency services personnel who may be the first to arrive at the scene of a transportation incident involving a hazardous material. It is primarily a guide to aid first responders in (1) quickly identifying the specific or generic classification of the material(s) involved in the incident, and (2) protecting themselves and the general public during this initial response phase of the incident. DOT's goal is to place one copy in each emergency service vehicle nationwide through distribution to state and local public safety authorities. The guidebook is also available online. To request a copy or view online, see http://hazmat.dot.gov/pubs/erg/guidebook.htm.

-----------------------------
4. New Web-based Tool for Tracking Disparities
-----------------------------

A new Web-based tool is available to hospitals, health systems, clinics, and health plans information and resources that wish to systematically collect race, ethnicity, and primary language data from patients. HRET and the American Hospital Association are sponsoring the toolkit, which is freely available online. The toolkit addresses the importance of data collection, how to implement a framework to collect race, ethnicity, and primary language data at an organization, and ultimately how to use these data to improve quality of care for all populations. Available at http://www.hretdisparities.org.
